Description

This is not the fastest Porsche, nor the most successful on the racetrack. This is simply the most iconic Porsche design of them all. Period. So, we are more than happy to share with you its eternal silhouette with this 1968 Porsche 911 poster art, created by Karolis Mikolenas.

This Porsche 911 poster art is a tribute of the most iconic Porsche design

The first generation of Porsche 911 had to be indexed as 901, after its internal project name. Well, the Peugeot company had the right of naming car models with tree numbers with a zero in the middle. This is how the 911 index was born.

The car was created as a successor of the Porsche 356, the first car Ferdinand Porsche created for his own brand. It kept the Beetle layout – rear engine, rear drive, 2 + 2 seater, used for the 356 model. The design was developed under the guidance of Butzi Porsche – a son of Ferry Porsche and grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. He wanted to create more spacious and comfortable car than the 356 while preserving its fun driving experience mandatory for every Porsche car then and now.

The final sketch of the 911 was not approved by Ferdinand Porsche and Erwin Komenda, the chief engineer and leader of car-body production. Then, Ferry Porsche just took his son`s sketches to Reutter coachbuilder, located across the street. They gave the actual shape of 911 as seen on this 911 poster art which later turned into automotive icon.

Porsche 911 was powered by 6-cylinder boxer engine capable of 130 hp, mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The car came was equipped with steel wheels and chrome trim inside and out. 911 was more tail-happy because of the increased power and skinny tires.

Now you can make this beautifully Porsche 911 poster art yours only at Simply Petrol. Do not miss such opportunity.

I’m Karolis Mikolenas and I was born in 1992 in a small city of Lithuania, named Panevezys. My curiosity about cars started at young age, so I started to draw them by hand. After that I got interested by computer graphic and transferred my drawing skills to the virtual space. Now I’m living and working in Vilnius and at my free time I do what I want – I’m living into automotive culture. This is where I get the inspiration for my cars and art.
