Bugatti Type 57 was a glorious machine created by Jean Bugatti, the son of Ettore Bugatti, the founder of the iconic French brand. It relied on inline 8-cylinder engine and chassis with almost independent suspension. It was fast, elegant and it won 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. Unfortunately, Jean was killed while testing his Type 57G racer.
The Atlantic coupes are the most acclaimed incarnations of this epic machine. Their bodies were an in-house job of Bugatti. Back in the days, top-level automotive manufacturers let coachbuilders make their best on top of a bare chassis. This is why the body was brought together with external riveting creating the signature seam.
