Lamborghini Diablo silhouette print

Let’s greet together one of the ultimate poster queen of the 90`s. As Jeremy Clarkson said once, the Lamborghini Diablo was designed solely to be the biggest head-turner in the world. We completely agree with him and would put an accent on the fact it was penned by the genius Marcelo Gandini who also designed the Miura and the Countach.

Its story is not as flawless as you could imagine. The initial design of Marcelo Gandini was rejected by Chrysler, the new owners of the Italian company. The Detroit managers requested more smooth and soft shapes. Later, the original idea of Gandini appeared in another car, the Cizeta-Moroder V16T.

The successor of Lamborghini Countach took its name from a ferocious bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century. Lamborghini Diablo was comparatively ferocious too – its top speed was way above 200 mph which made it the first car created in Sant'Agata Bolognese with such max speed, even though Sandro Munari managed to reach 340 km/h on the Nardo test track. Its power came out of the existing Lamborghini 5.7 V12 engine featuring dual overhead cams and multi-point fuel injection, good enough of 492 PS and 4.5 seconds for a standing start from 0 to 100 km/h.

The first owners of the Lamborghini Diablo received adjustable seats and steering wheel, as well as an Alpine stereo as standard. Among the very few options were an exclusive Breguet clock for the dashboard (priced then at $10,500), factory fitted luggage set ($2,600) and custom molded driver`s seat. Later versions of Lamborghini Diablo featured AWD for the VT version, anti-lock brakes, larger rear discs, power steering, roadster body and more power.
