Ford GT40 Gulf livery
Ford GT40 Gulf painting will always remind you of the astonishing success of the Ford GT program. If there is a V8-powered Ford, we can call a Ferrari-beater, then that's it.
The Ford GT Plot
Well, in fact, the story is now famous due to the brilliant movie adaptation in Ford v Ferrari. In the early 60's Ferrari was immensely popular all over the world with its fast cars and beautiful cars. Everyone knew if they need something fast, that also corners well, they should buy themselves a Ferrari. That made the order books of Ferrari crowded. Still, in reality, the manufacturing part of their business wasn't as good as their racing division Scuderia Ferrari. In fact, Ferrari was in crisis and in a severe need for some live-saving cash. High-ranked executives in Detroit noted that, and promptly desired to leverage their status as the world's number 1 mass-production car maker and buy the most Italian brand of them all.
Long story short, Enzo not only rejected the offer but also tricked them into increasing the evaluation of his company. Later Ferrari was acquired by Gianni Annieli, the boss of Fiat, at a much higher price. Naturally, Ferrari always prefered an Italian company as a partner and did not want to business with a "Detroit monster".
So Henry Ford took all this as a tremendous insult and wanted a revenge. He decided to build a car, that can beat Ferrari in the most famous Grand Prix in the world - The 24 Hours of Le Mans. The rest is history.
The Ford GT40 Gulf painting as recognition to a great effort and success
Ford GT40 was born and did precisely that in a truly spectacular fashion. This car was driven by racing legends like Jacky Ickx, Bruce McLaren, Dan Gurney, Ken Miles, Chris Amon, and all of them have won the 24 Heures du Mans race behind the wheel of a GT40.
